EFA 1
Electronic Fence Alarm
Designed to alert you when the
voltage on your electric fence drops below a preset voltage. It can
be used on electric fence lines powered with any fence controller
capable of producing and maintaining over 2000 volts. The alarm can
be set to activate when fence line voltage levels drop to or below
the 2000 volts or 4000 volts setting. For longhaired or hard to
control animals such as sheep, goats and predators, it is suggested
to set the alarm at the 4000 volt setting. The 2000 volt setting
should be adequate for most animals.
The EFA 1 comes equipped with a siren
/ light warning device. The siren / light device emits a high
decibel siren (105 db @ 3.3 ft) and a bright flashing light. The
siren / light device is visible and audible from great distances.
With additional wiring (12/2 UL rated electrical underground wire,
not included) the warning device can be placed up to 8000 feet from
the EFA base unit. The alarm has other options such as turning on
house lights, yard lights or dialing a telephone (autodialer).
The voltage on the electric fence
must drop below the alarm's preset voltage level (2000 or 4000
volts) for a period of 10 seconds before the alarm will activate.
This should eliminate any unnecessary alarms due to animals touching
the fence or periodic arcing due to something coming in contact with
the fence for a short period of time.
When the alarm activates, it will
continue until the switch on the EFA base unit is placed in the off
position. Make any necessary fence repairs before activating the
alarm again. The alarm will also stop if the fence line voltage
returns to a voltage level above the preset level for alarm
activation.
The EFA 1 can be used with a 12 volt
transformer (sold separately) that can be plugged into a 110 volt
outlet. For remote installations where electricity is not available,
hook the power cord to the positive and negative terminals of a 12
volt battery. A Deep Cycle Marine battery rated at 85 amp hours or
more is suggested. Battery should last approximately 3 months before
having to recharge. Using a 12 volt battery source is useful during
power outages, as the EFA 1 stays operational.
